Elena Fucci SCEG Aglianico del Vulture 2023
Product Info
The Electric Elena Fucci!
Owner, Winemaker, and Bold Visionary In 2000, as her family prepared to sell the land her grandfather had purchased in 1960, Elena made the pivotal decision to preserve it. A bold trailblazer with an infectious energy, Elena transformed the once bulk-wine estate into an award-winning, terroirdriven winery and continues to serve as a passionate leader in her region and beyond.
100% Aglianico Despite the risk of putting all her ‘grapes’ in one basket, Elena devotes herself entirely to Aglianico, the “King of the South.” She expertly guides Aglianico through the challenges of growing on volcanic soil at the highest point of Contrada Solagna in Titolo, resulting in exceptional, expressive wines.
Mt. Vulture’s Oldest Vines The vineyard contains the oldest vines on Mount Vulture, with some more than 70 years old, which Elena is committed to protecting as she carries on her family’s legacy.
The 2023 vintage was both a blessing and a curse: heavy spring rains fueled downy mildew, reducing yields, but the surviving grapes enjoyed a strong season, producing a small yet high-quality harvest.
Hand-harvested in the mornings in early November, when the night temperature is cold, one of the latest in Italy.
Whole berries are macerated for 14 days and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation follows in 500lt new tonneaux.
Aged for 12 months in 500lt new tonneaux, followed by an additional 6 months in bottle.
