Libero's name comes from the "Freedom" to choose from within 3 vineyard blocs on very different soils around Montalcino.  Charles Lazzara (Founder of Volio) started making this wine with Claudio Monaci, owner of Piancornello in Montalcino, and the well known winemaking consultant Maurizio Castelli several years ago.

Montalcino produces some of the greatest red wines in the world, but after 20 years of tasting in and around Montalcino Charles wanted to produce a wine that brings wine lovers to the region without breaking the bank.

The vineyards are in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, on the North side of Montalcino, and a small parcel in the Southwest as well.
