This single-vineyard Sangiovese offers elegant aromas of rose petal, red cherry, and redcurrant interwoven with savory notes of white pepper, juniper, and earth.
This single-vineyard wine comes from a historic site of old vines "Vigna Vecchia" that we have observed over the past 15 years to produce exceptional grapes. In 2015 we began to vinify this incredibly small bloc of vines separately to better understand it's potential, and in 2019 bottled this unique expression of terroir as a small lot Gran Selezione from Panzano.

50 Years of Anfiteatro
The vineyards of Anfiteatro showed their potential in the early stages of Montefili. With the help of Vittorio Fiore, back in the early '80's, Montefili began producing a single-vineyard, 100% Sangiovese, in the best vintages to showcase the unique terroir of Montefili. Now, 50 years later, Anfiteatro's old vines yield the purest of Sangiovese fruit and our most singular terroir.
This limited edition package includes 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2019 vintages of Anfiteatro. These are the best vintages over the past two decades of Montefili. In addition, we have included to Super Crus - Vigna nel Bosco 2019 and Vigna Vecchia 2019 - each representing our future Gran Selezione plots in Panzano and Montefiorale. These wines show off the incredible range of Sangiovese at Montefili from our most high elevation vineyards.
Cultivation
A precise low-intervention approach, combined with the targeted use of organic and natural fertilisers, the absence of insecticides, limited yields, and meticulous care of the production process – from pruning to harvest – enhances the identity of each plot, while respecting the environment and the health of the vineyards.
